sometimes you just need to relax

i tend to work a lot (like, from morning until bedtime), and sometimes i just want to relax, but then i feel guilty about it. where does that come from? who says it's not ok to relax when our bodies and minds need it?

i say, let's make our own rules, and let's relax more often and more fully!

what do you like to do to relax? i'd love to know!

  1. i like to do savasana (corpse pose) where you just lie still on the floor for about 10 minutes. It's hard for me to stop sometimes, but I always feel refreshed when I do!

  2. I am so loving this new site that I found of yours. these little bits of inspiration coming in from all over are wonderful. Plus the variation of artwork is great!

to relax... go to yoga, sit on the couch with my man and my baby, knit, head into my sewing room, bake a batch of choc. chip cookies, but mostly just remind myself to breathe....

  3. i know it sounds terrible but i honestly find that lying on the couch and watching mindless tv shows (like tmz) very relaxing. i can turn off my brain and just veg.

  7. I meditate...and do other things to relax, but meditating puts my soul in the driver's seat- All is Well from there!

  10. Beautiful piece Jess... for me, one of three things to relax: 1 read, really good fiction, nothing that is work, 2. yoga, for about 30 minutes after I step away from the computer, and 3. Watch one of 4 or 5 Jane Austen movies that I know by heart, and love, every time I watch again and knit.

  11. Why is relaxing so freakin' hard? I'm one of those multi-tasking/productive types who has to do one thing while doing something else - cleaning while I'm on the phone, sorting papers while I'm watching TV, etc.

Going to the beach with a book is so relaxing. I'm getting more relaxed just thinking about it. But when the beach is out of the question, I retreat to the bath with a trashy magazine or a good book and just read and soak. I always come out of the bath needing a nap!

  12. Tell me about finding it hard to relax! I find that if I am relaxed in my head then even if I'm working it is really relaxing. And there are those weekends, where I'm all wired in my head & can't relax even when I actually have time. Its all in my head. The things that really relax me are reading, travelling, listening to my music and meditating.

  13. And I just LOVED this piece of art! I love your detailing. Her flying hair, her posture, the texture on the walls the parapet where she sits and your beautiful typography.
