let go of your rocks: by jess gonacha

it's funny, usually i don't have any idea where a drawing is going to go when i start, but when i finish i realize that what came out was exactly what i needed.

this time i'm realizing the "rocks" that i need to let go of are the beliefs that my ideas are not good and that my artwork doesn't mean anything. these are rocks i've carried around for a loooooong time. too long. it's time to let them go, and to fill my mind with flowers. :)

so, i hope this drawing can mean something similar to all of you, and to inspire you to let go of your rocks this weekend and go outside and fill your mind with flowers! that's what i'm off to do right now. see you monday!

xoxo

  8. What a great inspiration for your picture. If you don't know how your drawings will end up and you often end up with something so meaningful, then you are probably really really gifted!

  9. I missed your post yesterday, but it is great that we were apparently thinking the same things! I spent my yesterday throwing away my rocks -- in the form of leaving my future up to others. I made a lot of calls and my wife and I worked on being in control of the next couple years ourselves, and not lettings other have that right. It's a really long story...so I'll stop there. Thanks for the post, it really hit home!

  10. I feel full of rocks. I'm taking your advice and letting them drop (watch out for bare toes) and taking my paints outside while the kids nap.

  12. I love this piece Jess- especially the red emphasis in her 'third eye' area- she is seeing what her soul sees, and that is the best place to be in my opinion! Seriously, my first impression is that she was laying down a path for others to follow. Isn't that interesting? :)

  14. Jess your work is not only beautiful and interesting to look at it inspires me to remember to look at my emotions in a whole way. Look at the good things in life in a meaningful way and share those with others ( in my art) along with the hard darker things that don't get talked about. I love this and good grief is this one a good, good, good reminder :)
