send your style into the world

How do you put yourself into the world?

How are you authentic?

What qualities about yourself do you share the most?

What qualities do you most admire in others?

What message do you want to send into the world?

Does your style reflect that message?

I don't focus on style very much, I think mainly because I work at home and most of the time in in a cozy sweater and yoga pants. :) But when I do go out, I think I could step it up a bit. I want to inspire creativity and positive feelings in people, through my work and my way of being. How can I make my outward style match my inner mission?

Something to think about.

{If you are interested in thinking in depth about style, I suggest Danielle LaPorte's book, Style Statement. I haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but it poses lots of great questions to think about!}

  3. I have been wanting this book for months now. I am a huge fan of Ms. LaPorte. I also work from home and when i do leave the house my clothes are a nightmare. I feel the same as you about wanting to inspire creativity and positive feelings through your way of being. After this post the book is officially on my christmas wish list. thanks for sharing.

  4. Sounds like a great book.

    I love all of the questions you've asked...I teach a Professional Development course at an arts university, and these are the types of discussions we always have.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

  5. I've seen you in your work from home attire, all smoky eyed. And the women that you paint are always ones that I aspire to dress like. You can't fool me!

  6. I'm really curious about that book--Do you find that it is applicable only to personal style as in clothing and accessories or does it also apply to your artwork?

  7. That's kind of funny because your drawings include some spectacular outfits! I assumed that you pretty much dress like that :) I am in the same boat working from home (what a gift) but I find myself in yoga pants every day. I have been thinking of stepping it up a bit myself.
