"we must be willing to let go"

i love this quote. i would even go so far as to say we need to let go of the day or the hour we have planned. sometimes i get so set on doing what i have planned, or whatever is on my lengthy to-do lists, that i let myself miss out on spontaneous experiences-- of adventure, fun, doing something that will later be a fantastic memory...

how do you get in your own way and hold tightly to what you think you "should do", instead of just letting your life flow as it wants to and is meant to?

  1. WOw, I can totally relate. I have the same problem. I have too many personal boundaries set to get things done, and end up feeling tired and deprived of fun. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great quote - I wish I could just let my life "flow." So sick of living to work, working to live...all at a job I hate. :-(

  4. I am SUCH a worrier, and that's what really stops me from living life more naturally. I've been doing a lot lately, though, to try and live more simply and truly. Some of the things that have helped: staying away from tv, reading every day, making people the priority in my life, and making a point of creating SOMETHING every day. I think that when I feel productive, I feel least worried about the future...

  5. This is a fantastic reminder to live in the moment. We are on parallel paths :)

  6. One more reminder that we are wasting time. It can be usefull, if you see the glass half full. ;D

  9. I get SO in my own way with worrying. Nothing better to keep you out of the present moment than worrying about what was or what might be... now to release myself from the worrying, is there a quote to fix that, please? : )

  10. I love this quote & the artwork that goes with it! So great.

For me, I cling WAY too closely to my To Do Lists, and my "shoulds". I "should" answer that email, "should" make that call, "should" do the laundry. Lately I've been following my "wants" (namely taking a bath, staying up late with friends, & seeing shows) & have a much better sense of balance.
